Duncan Hunter For President In 2008

Update: No longer in the race for GOP nomination

Environmental issues (more specifically, climate change) have a real presence in the upcoming presidential election. According to a survey conducted by the Sacred Heart University Polling Institute, 93.1% of respondents said they would be more likely to support a candidate whose platform includes a plan to improve the environment. But where do each of the candidates stand? Because, let's face it...some will be champions for the environment. And others will not be.

Duncan Hunter (R)

Summary: Acknowledges climate change but believes there is no scientific consensus on the role of humans. Supports energy independence.

The Candidate Says: "I reject Al Gore's and others' doomsday alarmism on the subject [of climate change]." (Interview on Free Republic, 13 August 2007) ""I think that global warming and the need to be energy independent gives us a great opportunity. I think we should bring together all of our colleges and universities, the private sector, government laboratories, and undertake what for this next generation will be a great opportunity and a great challenge to remove energy dependence on the Middle East and at the same time help the climate." (GOP Presidential Debate, 3 May 2007)
