I don't drive very often these days, but this week I had to drive about 100 miles, so I took the opportunity to test out a friend's Kiww Fuel Saving device.
It was a bizarre experience for me. I have driven several Priuses in my life and they offer similar functionality to the Kiwi natively in the screen of many models...I never cared. But the opportunity to get real-time feedback about my crappy old Honda Civic?! I was paying attention.
The real time feedback is impressive and very believable. I averaged about 24 mpg over a long trip of city and highway driving, but definitely felt motivated throughout to dry to brake and accelerate smoothly, coast whenever possible and just generally keep the number up. It's a fantastic way to raise awareness.
I also love that I'm told how much gas money I spent when the trip is over (keeps that expense in perspective) and how much money you saved by driving "well".
Installation is a snap, it just plugs in to a plug under my steering wheel that I never knew existed (it's the thing mechanics use to diagnose your car) and then it just works.
I'm looking forward to inflating my tires and making other small mods to see improvements. It's a cool gadget - only downside is the heavy price tag.
Ive always tried to drive green, but I was never sure how and if I was. This product basically gives me the ability to know exactly how to drive green as well as see the benefits of driving green in dollars and cents. I just ordered one and I cant wait to get it!!!! WIth gas prices they way they are I really don't know why anyone wouldnt want this product. Thank You KIWI
