The package tells you this is "Certified Organic Aloe Vera Gel Toothpaste", but the only thing organic in it is the aloe vera. The website claims that the water used in most toothpastes has been replaced by the aloe, but water is still listed as an ingredient. Seems a little misleading to me. I don't know why the water claims, but even if there's only one organic ingredient, one is still better than none.
Anyway- we bought this toothpaste because we wanted something SLS-free. I was a little concerned that aloe vera toothpaste would taste strange, but it doesn't. This toothpaste had a nice minty flavor, stronger than the Tom's of Maine toothpastes. It had a slight aniseed aftertaste. It left my mouth feeling clean, and seems like a good toothpaste.
It does have fluoride in it, which I know some people try to avoid, and seems to have been partially responsible for the poor skin deep score. However, we wanted something anticavity, and fluoride is often used for that purpose...
