Using the covers (lil' g pants) for my prefolds now
AllNaturalMama reviewed July 7, 2008 at 10:20 pm

My husband and I ordered a bulk amount from their website, which came out to a whopping $60+ for about 128 in the medium! I really love the concept of these flushable dipes, but they are not cheap! We recently discovered that the Nugget grocery market up the street sells the starter packs, which come with 2 little g pants (covers) and 4 snap in liners, and 10 pads (the flushable dipe).  I have to agree with "Olof." ..if you are going to purchase more covers, just save yourself some $ and keep getting the started packs.  They come out cheaper in the end, since each cover is about 18 bucks and you get 2 in each pack plus 10 flushable dipes for about 27 bucks incl. tax.  So it's like you get 10 free flushable diapers each time you buy 2 g pants!  In theory that is...   Although now I think they only sell the starter packs in the "vanilla and tangerine" colors  whereas before it used to come in all the colors, and you pick which color combo you want off the shelf.  Perhaps, they caught on to us frugal shoppers? LOL  Lucky for me, I bought the starter pack 3 times, so I have: green, red, blue, orange, and white and saved a bundle doing it that way.  Nowa days, I use the little g pants for prefolds, and haven't bought the actual packs of g-diapers in quite some time now.  There have been reports of success using prefolds in place of the pads so one day I gave them a try and have been using strictly cloth with the g pants ever since - it's been about 4 months now and it's totally working out for us.   Try them out, you will be surprised at how great the concept of the flushable diaper is! What's great is that you can compost the wet ones! It's true! Check out www.gdiaper.com and u will learn alot about disposables vs. flushables (or cloth).  Once you educate yourself, if you are like me, you will make the switch.  In the long run, if you want to save money, and still want to maintain your "tree hugger" values,  I would suggest using cloth in lieu of the pads since they work just as good as other covers on the market.  I would recommend either chinese prefolds, or gerber birdseye prefolds with the little g pants.  Hope this helps! Happy Diapering!

I didn't end up using these as much as I would have liked to. I started using them when my little boy was only 2 weeks old because before that it was to high for his belly button. He also was to skinny for it and would pee out the sides of the thing all the time. I was breastfeeding so he was pooping all the time so I was hand washing the covers because I only had 4 and that was way not when he was pooping so often. This might be really nice in the larger sizes for older kids that do not poo more than 2-3 times a day. It is cheaper to get the starter boxes than it is to buy the covers separately. I like my cloths a lot better than these. I might convert these into cloth diaper covers for my next child since my son has outgrown the smalls already and he is not even 3 months yet.
