Pros: Cleans well, biodegradable, Bio Pac donates to the Wilderness Preservation

Cons: It's easy to get overzealous with the spray bottle...

It actually makes me excited to clean the bathroom
stins reviewed December 3, 2008 at 12:25 pm

I picked up a bottle of Bio Pac bathroom cleaner last weekend at a lovely little eco boutique in Santa Cruz, CA.  I have to admit, I was pretty pumped and I hadn't even tried it yet (but I've been hearing good things about the company).  Well, it didn't let me down.

Let's talk about cleaning prowess.  Yes, that's right.  It's got prowess.  I've been a little disappointed by other natural cleaners in the past.  It might be biodegradable, it might be natural, but if it doesn't work...then you end up wasting it which isn't useful to anyone.  Bio Pac's bathroom cleaner is great.  Thus far I've only cleaned the bathroom marble countertop and the sink, but it worked like a dream.  Yes, that's right.  A dream.

Okay, in all seriousness, it was great.  In the past, I've had to scrub away at soap scum, bits of toothpaste from where my housemates drip, face wash residue (yeah, it's gross).  Sometimes I've had to do multiple rounds of scrubbing and wiping away with water and then more scrubbing to get rid of the cleaning product.  This time around, I just sprayed on the bathroom cleaner and wiped it away to reveal a sparkling countertop (sans soapy residue from the cleaner).

At first I was a tad surprised by the ingredients list because some of the names are rather scary sounding.  I mean..."linear alcohol ethoxylate"?  "Propylene glycol normal butyl ether?"  Yikes, right?  Well, even if the names are scary, they're biodegradable (I googled most of them).  And the company also donates 10% of its profits to Wilderness Preservation.  So that's an added bonus.

The scent of the product is "Pine Fresh."  It was a little strong going on (not unpleasant, but it did smell like you were cleaning) but afterwards, it's not overpowering or lingering.  But I'll be honest...it could have partially been my fault.  I did get a little overexcited with the sprayer.

The other thing that's amazing about this cleaner is that the directions say to "agitate the surface."  And I just think that's funny.
