My very first impression of this granola was "eh." I'd mixed it into some berry yogurt, and I wished that I could take it back out.
I left in the cupboard for a while...eventually I tried snacking on it solo- messy, but not bad.
The pattern continued. The granola hid in the cupboard for 4-5 days, and then I would try a bite or two.
Until last night! Last night, I put it on top of some french vanilla yogurt. Ohhhh, so good! After I ate half my yogurt, I ran back to the kitchen to top up. In my excitement, I spilled granola all over the stove. But I was in heaven.
This granola tasted just like banana bread. It seems the secret is not to use fruity yogurt with the banana nut bread granola. Stick to vanilla. :D
I've only tried the Yumberry Goji Currant kind (which I gather is a new kind)...but it's definitely a solid granola choice (and based on this one, I'll be trying others for sure). The granola bits aren't all chunky and stuck together which I like for my purposes (i.e. mixed in with yogurt and occassionally some fresh fruit). But for straight-out-of-the-bag snacking purposes, it's a tad messy since it's easier to drop bits all over yourself.
I'm a big fan of this granola because it's not too sweet. The goji berries in this one are really quite mild (and not too goji tasting, for better or worse). Some of the berries are a tad sticky (i.e. they stick in your teeth a bit)...I think it may be the currants. It's not too terrible, but it's just something to remember if you're eating it before you have a date or something. Oh, and one last thing I like about this granola...it's got ground flax seed. So that's a bonus.
I really like this granola. The Fruit and Nut flavor is great with soymilk for breakfast, although I tend to prefer granolas that also have "clusters" in them. My favorite way to eat this, though, is to put the Heavenly Chocolate flavor on top of ice cream for dessert. It's not too chocolatey...adds a subtle sweetness and a great, crunchy texture :)
