2009 VW Jetta TDI Clean Diesel
Volkswagen Jetta TDI Clean Diesels run on ultra-low sulfur diesel that has 97% less sulfur content, radically reducing emissions. Not to mention, our high-torque, high-mileage, fuel efficient TDI Clean Diesel engine uses a "common rail" direct ignition system to decrease over 95% of all sooty emissions. And don't forget, the "T" in TDI stands for turbocharged.

The Jetta has always been agile and zippy, but the new, more powerful TDi gives it more oomph, allowing us to power through traffic and accelerate from stoplights with authority and a little bravado—we totally tooled on a Toyota Prius. We were also shocked as to how quiet the engine operates: You have to consciously listen for the knocking, or you wouldn’t even notice it."
Green Fuels Forecast: '09 Jetta TDI Starting Under $22,000
Volkswagen announces the 2009 Jetta TDI will be priced from $21,990 for the four-door sedan, while the SportWagen TDI will start at $23,590. The 2009 Jetta TDI will be the first new diesel passenger car to meet the Tier 2 Bin 5 (T2B5) emissions standard. Volkswagen spokesman Keith Price tells Diesel Forecast that the TDI will be roughly equivalent to the mid-level SE trim on the gasoline engine Jetta. The 2009 Jetta SE with a 2.5L five cylinder starts at $19,990.
