But apparently they're also opening a factory in Uruguay!
According to the good folks at Eco Worldy, ZAP is getting an acre of land for a factory. And apparently "the country’s government hopes that ZAP! (Zero Air Pollution) cars will help improve Uruguay’s economy and also decrease air pollution."
They'll break ground next month...
Yeah, the purpose of the factory will be to manufacture ZAP's existing products (i.e. Xebras, Zappy scooters, electric bicycles) for delivery to South America. Good to see an EV maker expanding operations.
For sure, I haven't travelled in South America, but in other densely populated cities in Asia that I've been to and also in the Dominican Republic, 2-stroke scooters are everywhere, so the option of having zero-emissions options is very, very cool.

That's not much when you consider the building, parking, delivery area, etc. I guess you don't need much to build scooters, or even their Xebra - maybe it's enough...
Central and South America could definately use an electric option for scooters - that is for sure - as the 2-strokes are everywhere!

Yeah....maybe you don't need too much floor space for assembly.
But I was actually kind of amazed when I saw the Xebra at the Palo Alto EV Rally...it's way bigger than I was expecting!
