Iceland had been attempting to form a hydrogen transportation infrastructure. The country set up a hydrogen fueling station and experimented with hydrogen fuel cell buses.
Those buses are gone now. Iceland held a Driving Sustainably ‘08 conference last week, and virtually every presentation was on plug-in hybrids and EVs, with Shell giving the lone brief presentation on hydrogen.
It's very telling that even Iceland, which is set up well for hydrogen (relatively small area, concentrated population, lots of renewable energy which could be used to produce hydrogen fuel) is moving away from hydrogen and toward EVs.
