I just discovered the tag feature, and had nitedreamer explain it to me.
We were discussing how you know what tags are available, and I suggested an AJAX auto complete input field.
You've probably already thought of this, but I thought I'd pass it along just in case!
That's definitely something we've discussed, but it isn't a feature that is on the roadmap right now. Do you think autocomplete would be more useful than search?
Do you have any other ideas about how to make it easier to tag things? I think it's a feature where there is a lot of room for improvement.

I personally love auto suggest search boxes. It's such an easy way to work out of a tag exists, especially if you wild card the search string.
A page showing a list of available tags is useful if you have a small list of tags, but that probably wouldn't scale well.
I wonder how a "suggested tag" list would work? If there was a list of suggested tags based upon the page content, that would make it easy for users to tag items.

Is there a site with an auto suggest search box implementation that you really like? We'll look at getting it added to our roadmap for the Tag browser. I think you're right, it'd be helpful for a lot of users.
We've discussed the idea of both "suggested tags" and "auto tags." Auto being that if there were enough occurrences of a keyword in an article or thread, the appropriate tags would just be added automatically. It would obviously be a huge technical challenge (either suggested or auto), but I'm sure we'll look at things like that when we're further down the road.
